Kona Bikes Dream Builds: Eddie Reynolds MX Dual Slalom Ready Hei Hei CR

Kona Team Rider Eddie Reynolds has built some head-turning Konas over the years. We’ve caught him putting 27.5" wheels on our 29" Process more than once, and the guy has never met a custom paint job he didn’t like.

But when he saw the Hei Hei CR in the flesh, he knew it would make a super-responsive dual slalom bike. With the blessing of the product team, who assured him that the Hei Hei CR frame was tested to the same standards as the Process 153 CR, Eddie was confident it could handle everything he planned to throw at it.

We caught up with Eddie between runs at Sea Otter to get the full rundown on this very special build.

Shimano has been a long-time sponsor of Eddies, and the build is anchored with a set of XTR cranks and a matching pressfit BB.

Shifting is taken care of with Shimano's wireless XT Di2 rear mech mated to a 12-speed 9-45t cassette.

Rear suspension is taken care of with Marzocchi's inline Bomber rear shock, the seatpost is a Fox Transfer Performance Elite, and the saddle is a Deity Speedtrap.

Up front, you'll find a 130mm travel Marzocchi Bomber Z1. For wheels, Eddie is rocking the MX setup Raceface Turbine wheelset with a 29" Maxxis Assegai EXO+ up front and a 27.5" Minion DHR II DD out the back of the bike, both with cushcore inserts.

There's more Deity goodness in the cockpit with a Copperhead stem holding a 40mm rise Zink Deity bar.

Shimano XT stoppers slow things down.

Deity Flat Trak pedals ensure Eddie's feet stay exactly where he wants them.
