The Story Behind the Squad

Some teams grow slowly. Others explode into the scene with grit, passion and a lot of trail dust. This one falls firmly into the second category.

Back in the day, Carsten Schnürle teamed up with Kona to launch a German mountain bike team. Riders like top pro Karl Platt were among the early crew, and from there, the momentum never stopped. Since 1999, Carsten has been steering the ship as team manager, while Mirjam Schnürle keeps the sporting direction sharp and focused.

And the results? Let’s just say the podium has become a familiar place. World Championships, European Championships, German Championships—plus a long list of national and international wins. Over the years, the squad has grown into one of Germany’s most successful MTB marathon teams. Endurance racing is where their pulse runs hottest.

Today’s roster brings together the horsepower of Markus Ziegler, Uli Brucker, Sofie Ketterer, Eliane Glowka, Matthias Müller, and Johannes Schulz. You’ll spot them at all the major bike events across Germany and beyond—ripping through marathons, grinding through 12-hour and 24-hour races. And for 2026, the crew is gearing up to show their colors in a few gravel races too.
