Low center of gravity for noticeable traction
Better climbing, better descending—it all comes from traction and is the first thing riders notice. The Remote grips hard on the way up and feels just as composed on the way down. We were intentional about battery placement, positioning it as low as possible to keep the center of gravity planted. Pair that with slightly lengthened chainstays for added stability, and the result is a bike that stays calm and predictable when things get steep.

- Can I buy this as just a frame, motor and battery?
- Nope. The Remote 160 CR only comes as a complete bike—this way, it rides like it’s supposed to, every single time.
- Can I easily remove the battery for charging?
- Not really. The battery lives inside the downtube, so it’s not meant to pop in and out. You can remove it, but it’s a bit of a project—you’d need to take out the drive unit and other components.
- Can I power the bike using only the range extender?
- Technically yes—with the right expectations. The range extender is designed to work alongside the main battery, not replace it. If your main battery is at 0% but you’ve got a full PM250 range extender, the bike will still power on—just don’t expect full support. For full performance, the main battery should be charged and used together with the range extender.
- Can I run a 29” wheelset front and back?
- Absolutely. Flip the chip, swap the wheels, and ride however you like
- Can I customize power assistance and shift behavior?
- The Bosch Flow app lets you tweak power, assistance, torque, and more so the bikes rides just the way you want it. The Shimano Etube app allows you the ability to adjust shift performance and behavior—giving you complete control over the shift.
- What’s the estimated range?
- That depends—terrain, rider weight, and how hard you push it all factor in. Bosch has a handy range calculator to help you dial in numbers for your ride style.
- What’s the max rear tire size?
- 2.5”. Tire brand, tread, rims, and riding style all play a role. Mud can pack up, and hard riding can flex your wheel enough to rub the frame. Common sense wins here—if it’s rubbing enough to hurt the frame, it’s probably too big.
- What’s the warranty?
- Frameset: Lifetime coverage against manufacturing defects for the original owner, plus a lifetime crash replacement policy.
- Electronics and Battery: Covered separately by the manufacturer—check their website or specifics.
- Where can I get replacement chargers or cables?
- Hit up your local Kona dealer or Bosch eBike service—you’ll be riding again in no time.
- How fast can I go?
- The Bosch SX motor assists up to your country’s legal limit—20 mph in the US / 32 kph in Canada, 25 kph in the EU. Power tapers off near the limit so it still feels natural. Downhill speed? That’s all you, the trail, and your skills.
